Merger LRF XP50: best-in-class thermal performance

Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide is pleased to announce the next big launch in the Pulsar 2022 line-up: Merger LRF XP50 thermal imaging binoculars. Showcasing the next level in long-range observation, comfort of use and image detail and quality, this is cutting-edge functionality and performance packed into its proven classical binocular design.

Ideal for long-range observation

The Merger LRF XP50 dual eyepiece fully unlocks the potential of human vision by reducing eye fatigue. The human brain is conditioned to receive visual information from two channels simultaneously and combine them into a single image. Observing through a single-eye-piece monocular requires excessive effort from the brain to override the standard algorithm of visual perception. So, we can quickly feel fatigued.

The dual binocular layout eliminates this problem. The result is a more natural and detailed appearance of the observed objects, even under low temperature contrast conditions. With the Merger you’ll be able to enjoy the view longer than ever! Plus, the ability to adjust the distance between the eyepieces means it can be customised to individual needs and eliminates the potential for double-vision images.

Unprecedented comfort of use

The ergonomics of the Merger LRF XP50 unfold as soon as you hold it in your hands. All the important features are available at a single click of a button. The well-planned arrangement of the controls enables comfortable device operation with either hand. The classic form factor of the Merger combines the time-proven shape and ergonomics of conventional daytime binoculars.

Always the best view

The new Merger combines all the best components and features available at the minute resulting in unbelievably detailed and crisp images of both targets and backgrounds. With the new electronics platform and enhanced image processing algorithms, the binoculars offer a new approach to image optimisation for any observation purposes and conditions.

A powerful 640x480 / 17µm French made Lynred thermal imaging sensor with NETD <25mK ensures perfect detail recognition even under the harshest weather conditions when thermal contrast is low. It results in sharp, richly contrasted thermal imaging for enhanced identification of animals, their extremities and even the smallest details, such as branches, leaves, grass and terrain.

The ultimate detection efficiency of the Merger is achieved with the combination of the highly sensitive thermal sensor and the fast aperture F50/1.0 germanium lens. The lens power and sensor sensitivity ensure exceptional detection capabilities. A standard 1.8 m tall object can be detected up to 1800 m away in complete darkness.

Dependable companion that won’t disappoint

With the new Merger LRF XP50 you’ll be able to precisely estimate the target distance which is essential for making the right call. A built-in long-distance laser rangefinder (with a detection range up to 1800 m) fits into a single optical channel. It enables measuring distances of up to 1000 m in single measurements and in continuous scanning modes with an accuracy of ± 1 for quick and error-free assessment of a scenario.

You’ll be able to operate the binoculars for up to 10 hours on a single battery charge. Plus, the dual battery system allows you to quickly replace one of the batteries in complete darkness without turning off the device.

This trusty companion is designed for constant and hardcore use. The high-quality reinforced magnesium alloy body is both light and strong. The housing reliably protects the internal components of the device from shocks, drops, moisture, heat and cold. At the same time, the metal housing effectively disperses heat from the electronics, minimizing the image noise, and increasing the consistency of operation during long-term observation.

The new Merger LRF XP50 is unique for its high-grade functionality and enormous possibilities:
